Yay – just finished my latest custom #18 in the Mutant Bunny Figure Series – The Hatshepsut Bunny.

This was a commission with the idea of creating a Sphynx Bunny, so I worked to incorporate the idea of the bricks into the bunny-pharaoh looking figure. Wanting to add some hieroglyphics on the back, I poured over my Ancient Egypt art books and searched for some great imagery. As luck would have it I came across some text featuring rabbit forms, and couldn’t resist. Then I realized that the piece from where I was copying the hieroglyphics was Hatshepsut’s sarcophagus, giving me the opportunity to read up on her: Hatshepsut was a woman that ruled Ancient Egypt for decades as proper Pharaoh (normally a position held by a man, as the law required), acquiring all the Pharaoh’s traditional physical attributes (beard included). Even in most artwork she was depicted as a man. Inspired by the fascinating story of Hatshepsut I though it would be appropriate to name it after her (even though the name is a tounge-twister for me to pronounce). Plus, she has a hidden Pharaoh beard too! And yes, also GID eyes.
